1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible benefitting NPR

This incredibly generous donation was made to support National Public Radio and WDET!    This is a project car in every sense.   It has lived on wheels/dollies for over a decade.   However there is a huge head start for the right rebuilder/enthusiast.  The body, doors, hood, trunk, etc have been painted, the bumpers re-chromed and the seats re-upholstered.   The original engine seems intact.

Some Highlights:

• The tires are steel belted white wall replacement tires with 0 mileage on them. Plus a spare.
• The bumpers were re-chromed 35 years ago, but are in great shape. Never subject to the weather (often seen for sale in similar kind and condition for over $3,000 each)
• Similar conditon hoods often sell for over $1500,
• Original windshield is values  $5-800,
• Unrestored doors from $4-500 each.

The project is pretty clearly underestood the car needs a lot of work, inside the passenger compartment as well as the electrical and the engine, trans, brakes.  But given the good bones and starting point there is a great story here waiting to be told.
