This week’s car donation story comes from an individual who donated a 1993 Mazda 626 to WPSU through the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program. WPSU is a radio station affiliated with PBS and NPR and is a part of Penn State Outreach, which serves the community as a trusted outlet for news and information. This donation will provide additional funds for public radio stations and allow them to continue their work of educating individuals and providing free and wide access to its rural-bound Pennsylvania listeners. Keep reading to hear the donor’s personal journey with her vehicle and what her donation means to her and the community.
My parents gave me this car for my nineteenth birthday. It dutifully carried me through college, veterinary school, and my first ten years of married life and work. Eventually, our sitter drove the car to transport our children to pre-school, elementary and high school, and many extracurricular activities. As much as I dread parting with my nearly thirty year-old car friend, donating it to support public radio programs that will continue to educate us and benefit the community seems the most fitting final journey”.

About the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program
National Public Radio (NPR) is a nonprofit organization which seeks “to create a more informed public”. Through the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program, 75-80% of the gross proceeds from the sale of your vehicle will be donated to the public radio station of your choice. To start the process, all you have to do is fill out a simple form. Then, we will pick your vehicle for free. You’ll receive a tax receipt while the funds will support your favorite programs! Radio stations thrive off car donations, so you will be making a significant difference!
