This week’s car donation features a 2010 Subaru Outback that was donated to KQED through the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program. Car Talk works with local public radio stations across the nation. Car Talk ensures that each station gets the most from the proceeds of your donation. This enables your favorite programs to continue fostering thoughtful discussion, trustworthy information, and engaging entertainment. Your car donation helps keep your favorite public radio programming on air.
This donation was directed to KQED. KQED is a public radio station for the San Francisco area in California. Listeners can turn in and enjoy their favorite programming, whether on their morning commute, or else where. This donation will go directly to KQED and help support the programs you enjoy. KQED accepts all kinds of vehicles including cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, and more.
This donor shares her experience and why she chose to donate to KQED:
I just donated my 2010 Subaru Outback that I’ve had for the past 14 years. It was the first car I ever bought with money from my first real job. It has moved our family from Tennessee to Colorado to Maryland to Ohio to California. We brought our oldest son home from the hospital in that car. I was surprised by how emotional I felt to let it go. Lots of good memories in that little wagon.
My husband and I listen to KQED every single day. The traffic updates are so useful for commuting in the Bay area and we love The California Report. Also, This American Life and Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me kept me sane during the pandemic while my husband was deployed in Africa and I was alone with our [then] 18 month-old (who is adorable but was not a terribly stimulating conversationalist). I knew I wanted to donate the car to NPR to do something more meaningful than just trading it in or selling it. I hope it helps!
Thank you for the amazing programming and journalism! Public Radio has a very special place in our hearts.
Does your car have a special story? We’d love to share it on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Email us your donor story and photos!
