Have you ever considered donating your vehicle? Rest assured, we are here to help!
Before Donating Your Vehicle
#1 Find the Title to the vehicle you are donating
- A Title is a non-negotiable for most states – reference your state’s DMV site
DMV aka Registry of Motor Vehicles, Secretary of State, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Department of Revenue, Department of Transportation
- Each state has their own DMV
- Each state has their own DMV regulations
#2 Make sure there are no liens or loans against the vehicle’s Title (before donating)
- A lien would be something a bank or insurance company would have against the vehicle.
- A bank would have a lien if you took out a loan on the vehicle.
- An insurance company would have a lien if there were open claims on the vehicle.
- If you have a lien on the vehicle, get a lien release letter before hand
#3 Consider your vehicle’s condition – at least two inflated tires are needed
- Tires are needed to tow a vehicle. Do not strip your car!
- I repeat, do not strip the car.
#4 Get the vehicle in a location that is tow accessible
- No, a tower cannot retrieve a vehicle from the center of forest!
