In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, many car donation charities saw an increase in donated cars as hurricane damaged and flooded cars poured in from the east coast.
Owners of flooded cars that did not have comprehensive insurance found that car donation was often the best option for them. Organizations like Car Donation Wizard towed the vehicles for free and gave the owners fully tax-deductible receipts for at least $500.
The car donation experts at Car Donation Wizard, who work with exceptional nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society, Car Talk and more, evaluated each flooded car that came in; some were sold for scrap metal recycling and others at auction. Those sold at auction got flood titles to make buyers aware of the car’s flooded status.
