December 5th is the global observation of International Volunteer Day.
According to the UN, who mandated this day, it is “a unique chance for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work”.
The United Nations coordinates a volunteers program that mobilizes thousands of volunteers worldwide. Even if you aren’t physically able to volunteer with the United Nations, they also have an online volunteering service!
In our office, we are currently in the midst of a Stockings for Soldiers drive, where we are coming together to support our troops overseas. We are bringing in candies, stockings, and non-perishable food to send to soldiers from our area in New England. It can mean a lot to have access to special treats from home that aren’t available anywhere else, like Coffeemilk syrup or Boston baked beans.
We also help support the US Fund for UNICEF through vehicle donations every day.
UNICEF is the United Nation’s Children’s Fund, a nonprofit that supports children worldwide. This organization is committed to protecting the most vulnerable children around the globe.
They are active in over 190 countries and territories to protect children who are often unable to protect themselves. They focus on critical, lifesaving initiatives including vaccination and distribution of medicine, emergency relief, providing soap and clean water, and fighting child trafficking.
UNICEF has helped eliminate polio completely in 122 countries since 1988. It is difficult to quantify the reduction in human suffering through their valiant efforts. It is easy to quantify their excellent use of funds, though: 88.4% of every dollar donated goes directly to aid the children who need it.
We make it easy, all you need to do is visit our website or call at 1-855-487-3863. A U.S. Fund for UNICEF car donation can change a child’s life.
