National Nutrition Month
March is National Nutrition month and the theme for 2020 is Eat Right, Bite by Bite. While researching the topic, I was astonished at the world’s national nutrition status – hunger and malnutrition are not as uncommon as one would think. Hunger and malnutrition are also not just limited to developing countries.
The Food Aid Foundation reports,
1 in 7 people are hungry
⅓ of food is wasted
1/9 of people on earth do not have enough food
Malnutrition causes 45% of the deaths in children under 5 years old – that’s 3.1 million children a year.
Feeding America reports,
38 million people are living in poverty in the U.S.
37 million struggle with hunger in the U.S. and more than 11 million are children
In 2019, most families living in poverty earn less than $25,750 per year.
Children are more likely to face food insecurity than any other group in the U.S.
Charities that Benefit Hunger Relief
The focus of National Nutrition month is on the importance of making wise food choices and having healthy activity habits. In honor of National Nutrition month, we would like to recognize our charities that benefit hunger relief because one cannot not practice healthy living habits if they are hungry.
Feed the Children
Feed The Children is dedicated to helping families and communities achieve stable lives by reducing the need for help tomorrow, while providing food and resources to help them today. In the last 40 years, Feed The Children has become one of the world’s largest private organizations committed to helping hungry families and children. In 2019, 88.6 million pounds of food and essentials were shipped to children and families in all 50 states, 10 foreign countries — a total of $344 million worth of goods helping over 6.5 million people globally. Help create a world where no child goes to bed hungry by donating your car, truck, boat, RV or other vehicles to Feed the Children.
UNICEF USA
UNICEF’s efforts have saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization.
Due to the lack of proper nutrition, safe drinking water, and affordable vaccines, thousands of children under the age of 5 years old die. Since 1990, UNICEF’s programs have reduced the number of child deaths by 50% worldwide. A vehicle donation supports UNICEF’s staff and team of professionals to respond swiftly in crisis situations and work in places with ongoing need. With more than 60 years of experience saving and protecting children’s lives, you can be sure that your car donation is going to worthy cause. Thanks to the work of UNICEF and its supporters:
UNICEF helps to immunize nearly 40% of the world’s children.
UNICEF responds to more than 250 humanitarian emergencies every year.
UNICEF’s lifesaving interventions have helped cut child deaths by more than 50% since 1990.
Since 1990, UNICEF and partners have helped 2.1 billion people gain access to clean drinking water.
Help UNICEF continue to save and protect the lives of the world’s children by donating your vehicle!
