Donated to Car Talk: – Wisconsin Public Radio, this 1998 Six Chuter SX-1 has a 503 CC engine, 54 horsepower and only has 135 hours on it (fun fact :powered parachutes measure in hours not miles)
This type of aircraft was designed to comply with the US FAR 103 Ultralight Vehicles rules, including the category’s maximum empty weight of 254 lb (115 kg). It features aparachute-style high-wing, single-place accommodation, tricycle landing gear and a single 52 hp (39 kW) Rotax 503 engine in pusher configuration.
In flight steering is accomplished via foot pedals that actuate the canopy brakes, creating roll and yaw. On the ground the aircraft has lever-controlled nosewheel steering.
