World Cancer Day – Car Donation
World Cancer Day is internationally marked on February 4th. On this day, we hope to gain awareness about the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer. One out of three people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and 9 million people worldwide die from cancer each year. To give you a visual – that is the population of NYC and Philly – gone in one years time! We hope to gain awareness on World Cancer Day and hope you consider car donation.
While answering donation calls in ARS’ Communications Department, I was the most moved by the calls for the American Cancer’s Society. From siblings, calling in for their dying brother to a son whose mother had just passed. Having a parent who passed, it was hard for me to wrap my head around how these individuals were able to process a vehicle donation alongside the death of a loved one. Their strength is honorable and the common thread shared among them – a desire for a cure and hope in the future.
In a lifetime, 1 out of 3 people will face a cancer diagnosis.
