For over 105 years, Hollywood Post 43 of the American Legion has focused firmly on serving the needs of veterans and their families, local children and youth, and our community, state, and nation. An iconic presence in Hollywood since its founding in 1919 by veterans returning from World War One, Hollywood Post 43 is a 501(c)(19) California non-profit veterans service organization. Today we are one of the American Legion’s largest posts with a diverse membership of over 1,400 veterans from every U.S. conflict since WWII, serving people in need throughout our greater Los Angeles community.

How to Donate Your Car to the Hollywood American Legion Post 43

Step 1:  Provide Vehicle Information

Complete the donation form online or by calling us at 877-957-2277. We’ll ask you some questions about your vehicle, including the VIN, year, make, model, mileage, and condition.

Step 2:  Schedule Free Car Pick Up

Tell us about yourself and where your car will be picked up. You’ll be contacted by a local towing agent within 2-3 business days to schedule a pick up time that works best for you.

Step 3:  Get Tax Receipt

Once you submit your Hollywood Post 43 car donation, you’ll receive a confirmation email with access to your Donor Console. Within the Donor Console, you’ll be able to track the progress of your car donation, upload documents, and get tax and title information. After your car is sold, you’ll be emailed a tax receipt.

What types of vehicles are accepted?

Hollywood Post 43 accepts almost all running and non-functioning cars and trucks. Other vehicles such as vans, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, RVs, trailers, planes, and heavy machinery are accepted on a case-by-case basis. What documents do I need to complete my car donation to the Hollywood Post 43 American Legion?

You’ll need a clear title in order to complete your car donation. If there is a lien listed on the title, you’ll also need to provide a lien release document. If you have any questions, call us at 877-957-2277. 

How do I transfer my title?

You’ll need to sign your title over to our authorized agent, Advanced Remarketing Services. You will print and sign your name as the seller. Click here to find state-specific title transfer instructions or call (888) 755-5435 and a customer service representative can walk you through the process.

How much money will Hollywood Post 43 receive from my car donation?

Our agent, Advanced Remarketing Services, returns on average more than 80% of the gross proceeds from the sale of your vehicle, the highest of any vehicle donation program.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes! Within 30 days of the sale of your car, you’ll be emailed a tax receipt. If your car sells for over $500, you may deduct the full selling price of the car when itemizing taxes. If your car sells for less than $500, you can deduct $499 or your car’s fair market value, whichever is less. Please consult with your tax advisor on the best way to claim your Newport Public Education Foundation car donation tax deduction.
