How to Donate Your Car to MFAN

Step 1: Provide Vehicle Information

Complete the donation form online or by calling us at 877-957-2277. We will ask you a few questions about your vehicle, including the VIN, year, make, model, mileage, and condition.

Step 2: Schedule Free Car Pick Up

Tell us a bit about yourself and where your car will be picked up. You’ll be contacted by a local towing agent within 2-3 business days to schedule a pick up time that works best for you.

Step 3: Get Tax Receipt

Once you submit your MFAN car donation, you’ll receive a confirmation email with access to your Donor Console. Within the Donor Console, you’ll be able to track the progress of your car donation, upload documents, and get tax and title information. After your car is sold, you will be emailed a tax receipt.

What types of vehicle donations are accepted?

MFAN accepts almost all running and non-running cars and trucks. Other vehicles such as vans, motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, RVs, trailers, planes, and heavy machinery are accepted on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions about a vehicle you’d like to donate, call us at 877-957-2277.

How long will it take to pick up my car?

Military Family Advisory Network processes car donations as quickly as possible. Once you submit the donation form, a local towing agent will call you within 2-3 business days to schedule a pick up time that works best for you.

Does my car have to be registered in my name?

No, it does not. The name on registration documents and vehicle titles are often different. However, the title does have to be in your name. If you have any questions, visit our Title Help page or give us a call at 877-957-2277.

If there are 2 people listed on the title, do both need to sign it?

Generally, yes. However, if there is an “or” in between the names, it only requires one signature.

How much money will MFAN receive from my car donation?

Our authorized agent, Advanced Remarketing Services, returns at least 75-80% of the gross proceeds from the sale of your vehicle to Military Family Advisory Network.

Will I receive a tax receipt?

Yes! Within 30 days of the sale of your car, you’ll be emailed a tax receipt. If your car sells for over $500, you may deduct the full selling price of the car when itemizing taxes. If your car sells for less than $500, you can deduct $499 or your car’s fair market value, whichever is less. Please consult with your tax advisor on the best way to claim your military car donation tax deduction.
